Nicolas Lara

Born in Havana in 1943

Nicolás Lara is a poet, writer and self-taught artist. His solo exhibitions include The Fool of the Hill at Astrid Paredes Gallery in Caracas, Venezuela, 1993; The Best Friend of the Heart is the Hot Dog at the House of the Young Creators in Havana, 1993; Madonna in the Hill of Almond Chocolate at the Luis de Soto Gallery in the School of Arts and Letters, University of Havana, 1992; The Sanyasin and the Goddess Kali at the Ministry of Culture in Havana, 1991; Nikoleto at the Dragon Library Again, at the “José Lezama Lima” Library in Havana, 1988; and Love, Flowers, Revolution at the County Museum in San José de las Lajas, Havana,1980. Lara won the Painting Award of the “March 13” National Salon, organized by the University of Havana’s L Gallery, 1991; and the Special Group Prize at the First Jaume Guasch Biennal of Painting, organized by the Jaume Guasch Foundation in Barcelona, Spain, 1987.
